Covid 19
Description
DescriptionCOVID-19, a contagious disease first identified in China in late 2019, quickly spread worldwide. In early 2020, the New Zealand government implemented measures to contain the virus, including a four-level COVID-19 Alert System.
On 25 March 2020, at 11:59 pm, Aotearoa New Zealand entered Alert Level 4, the highest alert level. The entire country went into lockdown, with people required to stay at home in their household "bubbles." Essential services like supermarkets, healthcare, emergency services, and farms remained operational, while schools, libraries, restaurants, haird salons, and most other businesses closed. People were instructed not to mix with others outside their bubbles except for essential visits or outdoor exercise.
This collection features stories from Tasman residents about their experiences during the lockdowns and the challenges they faced while isolating and under the different alert levels. It reflects how our communities, families and individuals navigated this unprecedented time
